This section of this site is to provide information to the public, particularly property owners and managers on Smith & Travis.
... Metro's last two Transit Street Projects are Smith from Pierce to Congress and Travis from Pierce to Commerce. Both segments are underway. Travis has begun on the three west-side lanes from Walker to Bell Streets. The initial work will be the reconstruction of public underground utilities—water lines, storm and sanitary sewers. Smith construction is progressing from both the north and south ends with plans to meet in the middle. Just as some busses were detoured from Smith to Milam for Smith Street construction, some Park and Ride busses were moved from Travis to Louisiana. The changes to Park and Ride bus routes to minimize traffic on Travis are detailed as follows. The affected routes are the morning routes of the 244, 246 and 247 and the afternoon routes of the 202, 204 and 283. Please share this news with your employees, tenants or other clientele who use Park & Rides. The morning riders on 244, 246 and 247 need to be ready for stops on the same cross streets as their afternoon routes, but on Louisiana Street. The afternoon riders on 202, 204 and 283 need to know that not only has the stop detoured two blocks west to Louisiana from Travis, but also one block north or south. Due to the large number of bus riders already waiting at the same Louisiana cross streets, these detoured routes will stop at different corners. The 202 and 204 stops on Louisiana are: Pease, Bell, Polk, Lamar, Walker, Capitol, Prairie, Congress; the 283 stops on Louisiana at Jefferson and then north of Lamar. The buses enter the HOV system directly from Louisiana Street so your route on the HOV does not change. Be sure to check the bus stop sign for your route number as you wait for the bus. ... |
